Introduction
Skolon offers Single Sign On (SSO) and data rostering of users, classes, groups and schools to Canva for Education. With the Skolon integration staff and students will be able to find the Canva application from the Skolon dashboard like any other application on the Skolon platform.
Prerequisites
Before you can install the SSO and rostering integration you have to have...
Access to a Canva for Education Tenant (single or multi school setup)
If you don’t have a Canva for Education Tenant, read the article Request a Canva for Education Tenant
Admin access to the Canva for Education Tenant
Users with email addresses in Skolon
Step 1. Get clientID and secret from Skolon
As an organization admin in Skolon, navigate to the top level and choose “API Keys for suppliers”. Create a clientId and secret for Canva and make sure you save the clientSecret temporarily before closing the window.
Step 2. Configure Canva
Sign in to your Canva Tenant with your admin account. Navigate to the option for “SSO & Provisioning”.
Follow the guide and use the following information.
Add Canva to your identity provider (IdP)
Currently Skolon isn’t listed as an Identity Provider, for the first option choose “My IdP isn’t listed”.
Add your IdP’s metadata
From your second support ticket with Skolon you will get the values for “SSO or Login URL”, “Entity ID or Issuer URL” and “X.509 Public Certificate”.
If you’re unsure of this, please contact our support.
Test your SSO connection and send the URL to Skolon
Right click the button “Test SSO” and send the URL to Skolon in your existing support ticket for installing Canva. The link should look something like this:
https://www.canva.com/login/sso/6ac57c75-abcb-42a3-b1c0-76bafb5e9432?isTesting=true
Provision accounts for your team
Skolon uses the OneRoster-standard where Canva pulls data from Skolon as scheduled in the Canva panel. Fill in the information below:
Endpoint URL: https://oneroster.skolon.com/ims/oneroster/v1p1
Access token URL: https://idp.skolon.com/oauth/access_token
API Key: Client ID as described in “Step 1. Get clientID and secret from Skolon”.
API Secret: Client secret as described in “Step 1. Get clientID and secret from Skolon”.
Save your configuration and test the connection. If you run into issues - contact the Skolon support in your existing ticket for installing the Canva-integration.
Step 3. Send SSO-link to Skolon
Send your SSO link as described in Step 2 to the Skolon support in your existing ticket for installing the Canva-integration. Upon completion of the last configuration from Skolons end, you will receive licenses to Canva for Education to assign in Skolon.
Getting the licenses in Skolon normally takes 1-2 working days.
Step 4. Assign licenses in Skolon
Once the licenses have been distributed in Skolon you have to assign them. Upon license assignment, Skolon will expose user data through OneRoster, and users will be created in Canva once the integration has run once. You can manually start the integration from Canva after assigning the licenses, just make sure you wait a couple of minutes to let the license assignment to run through in Skolon before running the integration.
